Awami Laboratories® collaborates across philosophies of treatment to improve health services in Pakistan and abroad, having invented medicines with measurable results in obesity-related diseases, and working on solutions for diabetes, cardiovascular issues, cancer, hepatitis and AIDS.
Our R&D Approach
- Since our inception in 1982, Awami has evolved Unani into a contemporary, modern hybrid system. Our founder, Hakeem Ikram Hussain Bhatti, believed in scientific validation — our first drug, Garlicum®, emerged after years of trials. We use over 300 herbs, maintain herbal monographs, and take 2–10 years per product.
- Our R&D Centre has invested over 10 years and works with a network of more than 50 physicians and scientists across disciplines, collaborating with the University of Agricultural Faisalabad, University College of Pharmacy University of Punjab, and the Weed Science Society of Pakistan KPK.
- Clinical trials are conducted in leading hospitals including Mayo Hospital Lahore. Research areas include endocrinology, cardiovascular issues, cancer (especially liver cancer), lifestyle disorders and women’s health.
